Mari Nilsen Neira
Co-founder, producer and director
As the founder and creative force behind the production company Herstory, Mari Nilsen Neira is an experienced director and producer with over 20 years in the industry. She brings a powerful inner drive to shaping the company’s creative vision, often focusing on elevating female perspectives and integrating innovative film technology.
Under her direction, the documentary Bunadsgeriljaen (2023) received widespread critical acclaim, earning Gullruten nominations for both Best Documentary and Best Director in 2024. Her significant impact on the regional and national film community was further recognized in 2025, when she was honored with the NTNU Film Prize.
Maja Holand
Cinematographer, editor and colorist
Maja Holand, a Norwegian Film School-trained cinematographer, has worked across drama, documentary, commercial, and television.
She has now directed the completed film HEX as a one-woman band, professionally handling lighting, sound, and camera herself, inspired by her previous solo-crafted work.
